Amy Sutherland is the author of Kicked, Bitten, and Scratched and Cookoff. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe. She has a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Her feature piece “What Shamu Taught Me About a Happy Marriage,” on which this book is based, was the most viewed and most e-mailed article of The New York Times online in 2006. Sutherland divides her time between Boston and Portland, Maine.

J.M. Kearns, Ph. D., has at various times been a philosopher of perception, a crisis counselor, and a music journalist. Not just another relationship book, Why Mr Right Can't Find You was called by Maclean’s contributing editor Julia McKinnell "the best self-help book I’ve ever read" and is a best-seller in Canada. Kearns is also the author of a novel, ex-Cottagers in Love (Spring 2008). He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his partner Debra.

Judy McGuire has advised and entertained singles in her irreverent "Ask Dategirl" column since 2000. She has written for Bust, Vibe, Paper, Time Out NY, Men's Fitness, and Mademoiselle, among others. Her book, How Not to Date, was born from the column, and is organized intofour sections, a series of gradually worse-off situations compiled from readers over the years. She lives in Brooklyn and runs the blog http://badadvice.typepad.com/.
