NYU Emerging Writers Series: John Edgar Wideman, Alicia A. Beale, Will Dowd, Ishion Hutchinson, and Carrie Martens

John Edgar Wideman is the winner of the 2000 O. Henry Award, the first two time recipient of the International PEN/Faulkner Award, and recipient of aMacArthur genius grant. He is the author of ten novels, five story collections, and three memoirs.

Alicia A. Beale
is a writer, and also perhaps by chance, a nice woman.

Will Dowd grew up in Braintree, MA, attended Boston College as an undergraduate and received a Masters of Science from MIT. His science essays have appeared in Scope and Skeptic magazine. In 2006 he was a finalist for the Ruth Lilly Fellowship. He is a current Jacob K. Javits Fellow.

Ishion Hutchinson's work has appeared in L.A. Times Review and the Jamaica Observer.  A Derek Walcott Scholarship recipient, he is in the final semester of NYU creative writing program.

Carrie Martens likes fairy tale endings.
