Peter Melman Landsman book LANDSMAN is about -- among other things -- the seedy underbelly of antebellum New Orleans and Jews who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Cheerily enough, it's garnered me a Book Sense 2007 Highlights Pick, Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers, and 2007 American Library Association Notable Book of the Year selection, as well as an ALA nomination for its Sophie Brody Medal, offered to works of distinction in the field of Jewish literature. Peter was born in New York and raised in Louisiana, where he earned my Ph.D. in English-Creative Writing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Currently, he lives in Brooklyn with his wife and four month old son, Charlie.
