A journalist-adventurer, Rich Benjamin is the author of Searching for Whitopia: An Improbable Journey to the Heart of White America. Between 2007 and 2009, Rich (who is openly non-Aryan American) packed his bags and embarked on a 26,909-mile journey through some of the fastest-growing and whitest locales in our nation. His social and political commentary is also featured in major newspapers, NPR, Fox Radio, the blogosphere, and many scholarly venues. A graduate of Wesleyan and Stanford, he is a member of the Author’s Guild and the National Book Critics Circle.
Nancy Balbirer’s memoir, Take Your Shirt Off and Cry, was published by Bloomsbury in April. As an actor, she costarred on Seinfeld and MTV’s Remote Control, appeared off-Broadway, and starred in her own critically acclaimed solo show I Slept With Jack Kerouac and Other Stories. She co-created the cult reading series, Cause Celeb!, and is the co-owner of the West Village wine bar, Pasita. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and daughter.
